Above the El
chicago's famed El trains are a unique site for those of us from out West. A friend showed me this vantage point where I could get above the tracks to photograph.
I photographed this from the large Ferris Wheel on Navy Pier, and was delighted to see the wonderful colors here.
I saw a similar image before I traveled to Chicago, and went looking for this vantage point. It turns out there is only one intersection like this in the area, and this view requires that I extend my camera out (with a death grip, of course) from the roof of a parking garage.
In the Vatican Museum, this double-spiral staircase really caught my eye.
On the Greek Island of Mykonos, time seems to slow to a crawl and afternoon siestas seem like a wonderful idea.
The Colors of the Sea
I found this tugboat tied up along the wharf in Argostoli, Greece and loved the vivid colors reflected in the water.
The Music of Venice

Dawn in Venice
I used my jet lag to good advantage when visiting Venice. Since I was awake so early I went out with my gear to capture sunrise. Here the fog made for a rather pastel dawn, but the scenery itself is spectacular nonetheless.
Moran Point Sunset
Grand Canyon National Park is filled with wonderful scenes like this.
I found this cabin alongside the highway passing through the ghost town of Chilly, Idaho. As I lined up the shot, I was delighted to find these old bones scattered about, enhancing the feeling of the shot.

This part of Capitol Reef National Park in Utah was settled by Mormons, and this old barn is surrounded by magnificent peaks and ridges.

OLF at sunset
The Navy's Out Lying Field (OLF) is a source of controversy in Coupeville, but this image captured the beauty of one jet passing over the setting sun.
A Pause in the Harvest
i loved the way the stalks of grain laid over in this scene. I was able to get out in the filed early in the morning to catch some of the morning fog as well.
Ebey's Bluff Sunset
I arrived at the beach to find that the sun was setting into a huge cloud bank to the west, but had a abrief moment to catch the evening color over Ebey's Bluff. This is a favorite hiking and beachcombing area for many Whidbey Islanders.
Windy day at Keystone Harbor
A strong south wind coupled with high tides made for an interesting day at Keystone Harbor.
